-
Animation of wallpaper patterns+ medical archive footage.
- Two 12m wide pavement projection installation (8 projectors).
Description:
The installation by Scottish
designers Timorous Beasties', inspired by the Wellcome Trust's work on
the human genome and malaria, includes 48 lamp shades featuring tsetse
flies, argyle checks made from syringes and other motifs featuring veins
and human fetuses. These hang as a double helix, mimicking the shape of
DNA, spanning the full height of the 5 metre high windows.
Animations made from these patterns, combined with archive footage (experiments,
educational films) from the Trust’s library are projected in 2x12m
long strips ( from 8 projectors) on the pavement facing the windows, drawing
attention to the installation. The video loop lasts 1 hour.
